3 Bed Semi Detached – Glossop, Derbyshire

About This Project

The homeowner had inadvertently caused significant damage to the archway separating his lounge/dining room and ceiling panels above. The Archway and ceiling were formed using Asbestos Insulating Board and upon breaking the boards the homeowner had inadvertently scattered significant amounts of asbestos dust and debris throughout the rooms.

The carpet was removed as asbestos contaminated waste and the room was pre-cleaned by operatives under semi-controlled conditions observing full primary and secondary decontamination procedures in an effort to remove the immediate debris. The two affected rooms were then fully enclosed so that the remaining damaged AIB and all the contaminated items could be either safely decontaminated and retained for re-use or porous and unsealed items such as sofas, soft furnishings and electrical goods disposed of as Asbestos contaminated waste as they cannot be effectively cleaned to a safe standard.

The area was handed back to the client post removal free from all Asbestos products and contaminants so that they could safely but cautiously proceed with their on-going planned refurbishment.
