Asbestos Surveys

Under the Control of Asbestos regulations 2012 (CAR 2012) and Construction (Design and Management) Regulations it is the duty holders responsibility to find out if and where any asbestos is present in buildings and to assess the quantity and condition. Where asbestos is identified, it needs to be analysed and written plan formulated to detail how the material will be managed. This plan is then required to be implemented and the information made available to people working within the area.

RS Asbestos Ltd will carry out a survey of any site or premises to assess the likelihood of asbestos being present. The surveys we can provide are:

Management Survey

Asbestos Management Surveys will often involve minor intrusive work and some disturbance. The extent of intrusion will vary between premises and depend on what is reasonably practicable for individual properties. Following completion of your management survey, you will be provided with a report detailing the location and properties of any asbestos found within the building.

Refurbishment/Demolition Survey

This requires a thorough survey of all materials within the building regardless of how accessible they are. This survey must be carried out prior to major demolition or destructive work to prevent the uncontrolled spread of asbestos material. Expanding from a management survey, we will take samples of materials thought to be asbestos and will have them analysed in UKAS accredited laboratories. This is most recognized survey within the industry and will provide required information prior to asbestos removal.

A full report of our findings is issued to the client, including an assessment of potential hazard and recommendations for removal prior to major works or demolition.

Once a survey has been completed a Register showing all Asbestos locations, types, extent, condition and risk categories, will be compiled. This Register should be made available to all employees or persons who are likely to come into contact with the Asbestos.
